Popular Guy

Polling from a couple of weeks ago, courtesy of Proceso, via the San Antonio Newspaper: 85 percent of Mexicans think Carlos Salinas should stand trial, 75 percent agreed with De la Madrid's assertion that Raul Salinas engaged in illicit business when his brother was president, 82 percent think that the Salinas family is corrupt, 76 percent say that Salinas was in cahoots with drug traffickers, and 78 percent say that he stole cash from the partida secreta (the slush fund that used to be at the discretion of the president). As to De la Madrid's retraction, only 10 percent thought he was really sick, while 68 percent think he was pressured to change his story.
