Back In a New Role
Via the Latin Americanist, Elvira Arellano (pronounced el-VEE'-ruh ah-ray-AH'-noh, as the AP helpfully informs us), whose deportation made big news while I was living in Chicago, is running for a deputy seat in Baja California Norte for the PRD. Despite living in Michoacán, she is running in Tijuana. Actually, that "despite" should be probably "because" she's living in Michoacán, where the PRD is very competitive and unlikely to offer a potential seat to an unproven politician.
