Federal police arrested 35 local police officers in Pachuca, as well as seven Hidalgo state police operating in the region. They were charged with working for organized crime. This is a bit surprising, since Hidalgo has little reputation for drug trafficking, and only a handful of people there have been killed in drug violence this year.
The Hidalgo arrests follow the detention of dozens of local officers in both Monterrey and Veracruz.
