Via Greg Weeks, The Daily Beast published an article today that placed blame for Arizona's immigration law on none other than Felipe Calderón. The reason, somehow, is his drug policy. There is virtually no attempt to explain why one nation's drug policy is relevant to another's immigration law (the third to last paragraph deals with the connection in an exceedingly unconvincing manner), relying on readers to do the legwork: both illegal immigrants and illegal drugs are from bad old Mexico.
People writing about the SB 1070: Mexican insecurity and Mexican immigration are not the same thing! They both come from Mexico, yes, but so do tequila and Bárbara Mori, which are likewise not to be confused.
