PAN in Disarray: Aguascalientes Edition

Marín Orozco, the would-be PAN candidate for governor in Aguascalientes, where the party has historically quite strong but where they are facing a steep deficit in the preliminary polls, was denied a spot on the ballot this week because of ongoing accusations of influence trafficking. Complicating matters further, the standing governor, the PAN's Luis Armando Reynoso, endorsed the PRI candidate, and is now facing expulsion from the party. César Nava, the perception of whose credibility and competence has taken a beating this year, continues to insist that Orozco will be allowed to run and will win. This led Vicente Fox to worry that the party risks losing the state, and criticize Nava for his stubbornness in not replacing Orozco.
