Dispatch from Big Orange Country
I still don't really have a very well defined opinion on Lane Kiffin, although when I do, I'm certain it will be strongly held. This piece from Outside the Lines offers a pretty good idea of what there is to like and dislike about him: lots of enthusiasm and passion (both of which have been lacking in recent years), but a lot of silliness and a general lack of gravity. Football coaches don't have to be Patton (indeed, it's extremely annoying when they think they are), but Kiffin comes off as a bit juvenile and unserious. If he wins early, that'll be a forgiveable (and probably temporary) quirk. If he doesn't improve markedly on Fulmer's recent record in the first couple of years amidst a steady stream of trivial yet embarrassing incidents, I don't imagine there will be a lot of patience for him.
