Friction

Two days ago, in protest of the presence of the army and of the arrests of police officers in and around Monterrey in recent weeks, local municipal police took to the streets of Mexico's third largest city to make their discontent known. This led to the arrival of lots of federales, which in turn led to some assault rifle-pointing, chest-bumping, and rank-pulling. Watch here.

Update: Excélsior is reporting that the spark for the protests was the arrest of a female police officer who was romantically linked to a local drug trafficker.

Also, Milenio reports that local industrialists are demanding the militarization of local security.
