Terror in Mexico
According to the UN spokesman Antonio Mazzitelli, Mexican drug gangs are resorting to terror to put pressure on local populations to agitate for a tacit pact between the government and the criminal class. The most recent example was the three grenades launched into public spaces in Sonora earlier this week, which resulted in a handful of injuries but no deaths. The UN spokesman took this as a sign that the government is succeeding in putting pressure on the gangs.
