Late Picks

Paul Williams versus Sergio Martínez is one of the most intriguing style matchups of the year. Martínez moves constantly and is capable of throwing fluid, effortless combinations like a lightweight (though he also is capable of stinking out the joint), despite being a good-sized junior middle. And Williams moves OK himself, throws punches by the score, has a wingspan roughly the size of Kevin Garnett's, and is perhaps the most physically intimidating fighter in the sport. And both guys can punch. I wouldn't be surprised by Martínez scoring the upset here, but at 160, this is a better fight for Williams. I think he takes a competitive and kind of boring decision.

Elsewhere, I like Amir Khan over Dmitri Salita by decision--and kudos to both guys for downplaying the Muslim versus Jew angle that the promoters wanted; that could have turned into something ugly. I also like Cris Arreola over Brian Minto by knockout in his return to the ring after the Klitschko beatdown.
