May This Please, Please, Please Happen

There is a bill circulating in the US House that would end the tyranny of the BCS, starting in the 2011 season. Jacob Weisberg recently wrote a piece that Obama is having the most consequential first year in office since FDR. That argument, contrarian though it may seem, only gets stronger with the passage of the above into law.

The BCS response:
In a statement before the vote, BCS executive director Bill Hancock said, "With all the serious matters facing our country, surely Congress has more important issues than spending taxpayer money to dictate how college football is played."
Their argument boils down to, "There are more important travesties going on in the country than the one I am responsible for, so please lay off." Not a strong argument.

I also think it should be noted that this bill has united a Texas conservative and a former Black Panther from Chicago as sponsors. I love college football.
