Life is full of tough choices, and today's Champion's League decision --Barça-Bayern or Chelsea-Liverpool-- was among the toughest I've had in a long while. Luca
Toni had promised to run naked through the streets of Munich if his side won the title, and thinking that he might be tempted to give viewers a sneak preview today, I settled on Chelsea-Liverpool. Good call--the first 45 minutes have been hotly contested, with lots of chances for both teams. Niño Torres has looked like another species at times, some sort of ultra-agile, football-playing spider. It seemed like Liverpool was going run the Blues right on out of Anfield for the first few minutes, but they've clawed their way back, picked up the equalizer on the corner, and set the stage for a great second half. With Barça up 4-0 (and Toni, as far as I know, still fully clothed), there's going to be a great semi-final on this side of the draw, regardless of who emerges from the duel between the English powers.
Also, this random comment in the
ESPN Gamecast deserves special mention:
John Terry's hair is receeding at an alarming rate. There will soon be an island at the front, sitting, rather like Britain in the days of Empire, in splendid isolation.
