Making a Splash

Javier Aguirre made a splashy first public appearance in his latest incarnation as Mexico's national team técnico. Among other things, he denied having negotiated for the job with Felipe Calderón, as had been reported, and talked about how the Mexican team has to "rompernos la madre", or, roughly translated, "bust our ass". The sentiment when Sven-Goran first started was one of cautious uneasiness, inconclusive apprehension, nascent concern; today, it couldn't be any more different. We'll see if it translates to an improvement on the field.
