Scenes from a Movie Theater

Last night, I went to see Changeling. In John Malkovich's first scene, during which he calls the LAPD the most violent, corrupt, and incompetent police force this side of the Rockies (which is to say, that side of the Rockies), when he reached the part about LA awakening to dead bodies by the side of the road on a daily basis, some yelled out, "It's Torreón!" There was much laughter. The jokester followed that with, "Thanks to the PAN!", which earned a rather less genial response.

Ironically, last week offered the first piece of good news in the annals of crime in the Laguna that I've seen in months: robberies are down from a high of eleven per day in January to seven a day in March.
