More from the Hand with Eyes

Fourteen police in Huixquilucan have been questioned about protecting the Hand with Eyes, the brilliantly named gang* that announced itself with a decapitated head in Naucalpan, Mexico State and accompanying note two months ago. The mayor of Huixquilucan is none other than Alfredo del Mazo, who was almost the PRI candidate to succeed his cousin and pal Enrique Peña Nieto as governor of the state. Officials say that del Mazo initiated the investigation with a request to the state government, and they seem to be bending over backwards to deny that he personally has anything to do with the gang.

*I don't want to trivialize the existence of a horrible group, but credit where due: really cool name.
