Secretary of Education Josefina Vázquez has resigned to seek a deputy seat, and, perhaps, the presidential nomination of the PAN. Right now, she seems to me to be as good a choice as anyone else the PAN is bandying about. She has been replaced by Alonso Lujambio. The new SecEd holds a PhD from Yale in political science, but a much more daunting challenge now awaits: working with Elba Esther Gordillo to improve the nation's flagging educational system.
