Unemployed Electricians
Some follow-up stats after last fall's takeover of Luz y Fuerza del Centro: just over 14,000 of the 44,000 laid off workers applied for work at CFE, the replacement of LyFC. Of those, just under half were deemed unworthy from the get-go, and of the 7,000 plus who were considered for jobs at CFE, only 369 were given positions, with another 1,150 still under consideration. So thus far, less than 1 percent of the LyFC workers remain employed in the same field.
