Better Ranking on the Global Peace Index
After being ranked 108 out of 144 nations in 2009, this year Mexico finished 107th out of 149 on the Global Peace Index. The Index takes into account a variety of factors, many of them favorable to Mexico's peace ratings. The areas where Mexico is graded poorly, which is to say the areas that cause Mexico to be ranked the same as Saudi Arabia, are levels of violent crime, murder rate, likelihood of violent demonstrations, potential for terrorist acts, lack of respect for human rights, level of perceived criminality, and ease of access to small arms.
