Readying the Blame

At least in my circle of interaction, Mexicans are not feeling particularly optimistic about Sunday's encounter with Messi, Maradona, Maxi, Mascherano, Milito, di María, Miguain (OK, I cheated on that last one, but that was one hell of an alliterative kick) and the rest of the Argentines, and with good reason: chances are, the Mexicans are coming home on Monday. It would seem from this El Universal poll in which 83 percent of respondents blame Javier Aguirre for the team's poor performance that Mexico already has its goat lined up. I'm not sure any coach, from Mourinho on down, could guide Mexico by Argentina most days, but the lack of playing time for Guardado and Hernández remains hard to justify. One can't help but think that if those two had played 90 minutes in each game, Mexico would be looking at South Korea and the US/Ghana for the semis, rather than staring at elimination.
