Not the Kind of Illegal Immigrant We Want To Be Chasing

As an example of the self-sabotage and senselessness of US immigration policies, this is almost too good to be true: Excélsior reports that an undocumented 20-year-old Mexican national, who had lived in the US since he was four years old and was studying to be a neurosurgeon at Harvard, was arrested in San Antonio and now faces deportation. Assuming this is all accurate, this is presumably a person who is far more American than Mexican, and, more to the point, whose continued existence in the United States would be an undeniable net gain for the nation. Deporting aspiring surgeons who've lived in the US since the first Clinton Administration is an asinine use of resources.

Hi Bob, thanks for reading. Absolutely, but hopefully it doesn't come to that.
