Potential Mayors
BGC-Excélsior polled Mexico City residents on the potential successors to Marcelo Ebrard, finding that the left's best hope is ex-UNAM rector Juan Ramón de la Fuente, followed by Jesús Ortega. The PRI's best option is Beatriz Paredes, while the PAN polled best with Demetrio Sodi. Since name recognition amounts to so much at this point and the elections are so off, these polls are of limited importance, though the popularity of de la Fuente is noteworthy. It's also striking that the PRI has jumped the PAN as the capital's second favorite city, behind only the still-popular PRD.
