Failed State Rankings

Mexico dropped a couple of spots on Failed State Index this year, from 98 to 96 (which means that there are 95 countries around the world with more capacity for chaos). This is surely not good news, but the relatively mild decline despite close to 10,000 murders related to organized crime once again demonstrates that the Mexican state has deep reserves of strength and resilience, beyond the daily mayhem in the drug trade.
