Torre Cantú Notes

The US, in the person of Arturo Valenzuela, laments the murder.

The peso slipped oh-so-slightly.

Calderón called for a common national front in the struggle against organized crime, and the PRI's governors have accepted the offer.

Beatriz Paredes criticized those who would use the murder for political gain (not sure if this is a warning shot at Calderón ahead of the meeting, or at anyone else in particular).

The PRI promises to have a successor to Torre in the next couple of days.

The governor of Tabasco said that five governors, himself included, have received death threats in recent weeks.
