Lower Quality

For those of you with an interest in American football in Mexico, this development is a plate-shifter: the teams of the Tec de Monterrey have been kicked out of the nation's top division for exploring the possibilities of forming a new conference to compete with Onefa (the Nation Student Organization for American Football). I don't know about the squads from other campuses, but the Tec teams from Monterrey, Mexico City, the State of Mexico, and Toluca are now out on their own. The Monterrey Borregos have dominated Mexican football over the past decade like UCLA did basketball in the 1960s, and their primary competition ordinarily came from the Borregos in Mexico City and the State of Mexico. It's an imperfect comparison, but this would be a bit like the SEC starting the season without Florida, Alabama, and Tennessee.
