Fights

I'm not sure if I've been spoiled by the fights in March and April and May 2nd, or if these last two weeks have really been boring, but nothing on this week's schedule really revs me up. Kevin Johnson will be far more entertaining in his post-fight interview than in jabbing his way to a decision victory over Devin Vargas on ESPN2. Tomorrow's scrap between Edison Miranda and Andre Ward could be interesting if Miranda forces the action and Ward is forced to go toe-to-toe, but, despite Miranda's puncher's chance, ultimately I don't think it'll be competitive. Ward by unanimous decision.

Gancho is 41-14 on the year, a mark made famous by Peyton Manning's coming-out party on Legion Field during his sophomore season, the Vols' first defeat over the Tide in nine years. I still remember the first play like it was yesterday; Manning hits Kent on a shallow crossing route, and he can't be stopped! Give him six!

Semi off-topic: You really need to find a way to see James Toback's Tyson documentary. It's amazing. Toback is generally considered a schmuck, but even Michael Bay would have a hard time screwing up a subject as rich as Tyson. To Toback's credit, he basically just sets up the camera and lets Iron Mike go. Tyson has always been way more reflective (and articulate) than he's given credit for, but he's a particularly open book in this showing. Plus of course it has footage of many of the most mind-blowing moments in Tysonian lore. I could write 10,000 words about the guy after watching. For good and bad, he's just one of the most fascinating specimens of humanity to grace our moment in history.

I'm dying to see it, but I've heard nothing about it here. It sounds like it was great. Lots of material to work with, for sure. He is impossible to ignore, even after his skills declined. I'll probably have to find my way to Mexico City at some point, hopefully it'll be on sale on a street corner.

And hopefully that street-corner copy will have Mexican (a sub-species of Spanish, as you're aware) subtitles, because I would kill to know how moments like this translate:
