Political Effects of the Flu

Here's several hundred words on the flu's impact. It would seem that my impressions (that the response by Calderón and Ebrard could translate into electoral gains for the PAN (immediately) and the PRD (in the medium term) were contradicted to some degree by the polls released by El Universal this morning. My impressions may well turn out to be wrong, although I'm not yet convinced that they will be. As I mentioned in the previous post, El Universal polls have been a bit volatile, and this survey was completed in the first week of May, which is probably not enough time to gather a complete picture of the flu's political effects. I'll be interested to see what the polls in late May and early June say.
