Big Step?

Scientists turned in the complete map of the Mexican human's genome to Felipe Calderón yesterday, a moment that is being hailed as a major accomplishment for Mexican science. Indeed, only three other nations (the US, Japan, and the UK) have reached such a milestone. As far as the practical application of the Mexican genome project, I really have no idea. The original genome project was one of those things that in middle school they always told us would change the way we approach medicine and science, but it would seem to have fallen short of that prediction.
