Confidence

Alberto Aziz Nassif referred to this poll in last week's column, and here's a little more information about Mexican attitudes via the National Poll of Political Culture and Citizen Practices (Encup): 93 percent of those polled expressed confidence in their family, with 72, 67, and 66 percent professing confidence in the Church, the army, and the IFE, respectively. The institutions that had the lowest level of confidence were the unions, the police, and the political parties. With slightly more than half the poll showing it, confidence in the president and governors was middling. Forty two percent of respondents declined to express a right-left political affinity.
