Visiting Mexico

According to the World Economic Forum's Travel and Tourism report, Mexico is ranked 51st in the world in its capacity to welcome visitors. This is a jump of four spots since last year, despite the fact that Mexico scored among the lowest nations in security. The WEF ranks the nations on the basis of eleven different categories, ranging from health and hygiene to tourism infrastructure. It would seem that some sort of intangible category measuring the likelihood of having a great time is missing; otherwise, how do we explain Mexico, Brazil, and Argentina being far below Iceland (18th), Luxembourg (24th), Qatar (37th), and Bahrain (40th). As a potential traveler, if a report can't measure the potential for me enjoying myself, it borders on worthless. But maybe I'm just a hopeless Latin Americaphile.

Seriously. The prostitute value factor alone should vault LatAm countries into the top ranks, let alone considerations of weather, terrain, food, friendliness, etc.

(Kidding about the whores. I swear.)
