The Church and the Narcos
Malcolm Beith wrote an interesting piece on the Catholic church's relationship with drug traffickers that appeared in The News a couple of days ago. The priests' conflicting motives in maintaining (or not) a relationship with organized crime reminds me of the discussion in Off the Books of the Chicago reverends who argue about allowing gang members to be eulogized in their churches.
