Jesús Ortega is condemned to invoke unity a thousand times, because after the pitched battle that brought him to the presidency of the PRD, it's no longer possible to inject new reasons to divide the party. But I doubt very much that the groups that make up the party can --or even should-- arrive together to the elections of 2009, much less those of 2012.
What identifies the currents that integrate the PRD isn't a shared ideology or even common vision of the country that they want. Their seal of identity is, more accurately, the way they practice politics...

Merino Sees Trouble
Mauricio Merino isn't fooled by the hubbub surrounding Jesús Ortega's flying start to his PRD presidency: the party has deep problems that go well beyond the man leading it.
