Ten Years On

Jornada reports on a big march in Caracas to celebrate the tenth anniversary of the Bolivarian Revolution. Chávez gets deeply socialist/populist to mark the moment: 
"Before, they reformed the Constitution and the people didn't even find out,' said Chávez... Now, he added, "whoever wants to change it, even if it's just a comma, must consult the people, because they are the owners of the Constitution."

"The people should have more political power, because they are the great builder of socialism, of the socialist economy, of socialist patriotism," said Chávez...
Also, in a fitting counterpoint to the big march, the Miami Herald reports that Chávez's cronies dished out tens of millions in cash and goodies to secure votes for chavista candidates in last month's state and local elections.
