Explaining the Tenencia Removal
Last week's big announcement from Calderón, that the tenencia on new cars was to be removed as of 2012, was reportedly sparked by a similar plan in the works in the State of Mexico. Not to be out-shined weeks before an election day by his likely successor, Calderón's cabinet raced to preempt Peña Nieto's announcement with own of their own. This may not be entirely true, but if it is and you have a presidency making such a decision based entirely on a governor's possible course of action, you have to wonder about the quality of his advisors.
