Ladies in the Game

A new study shows that 1 million Mexicans earn their living from the drug trade, and one out of every five is a woman. This is significantly greater than the estimate of 500,000 Mexicans in the drug trade offered by the Secretary of Defense last year, although that estimate had nothing about the ender breakdown. Of course, any estimate depends a great deal on the degrees of separation; does the person who operates a successful diner in a Sinaloa town that wouldn't exist without the drug trade make her living off of drugs or not?
