Prospect Watch

A few years ago, when Kostya Tszyu, Arturo Gatti, Sharmba Mitchell, Miguel Cotto, Floyd Mayweather, and Ricky Hatton were all at or near their physical peak, 140 pounds was (briefly) boxing's glamor division. Perusing Dan Rafael's list of the best prospects in 2008, it seems that another junior welterweight golden era is in the offing. The list of potential future stars: Mike Alvarado, Danny Garcia, Kenny Galarza, Devon Alexander, and prospect of the year Victor Ortiz. Let's hope that they deliver more memorable fights than the group mentioned above.
