Paying for Convicts

The State of Mexico is initiating a program which will pay 15,000 pesos (about $1,100) to citizens who provide information that lead to narcos being captured. Mexico (and the US) have long offered rewards for the capture of specific capos, but this is the first program I am aware of that will reward citizens for denouncing any drug dealer.

I'd be interested to a hear more about this after it's been in place a while. I imagine that drug dealers' extensive infiltration of police departments will be an almost insurmountable deterrent to this plan having any great success, at least in the near term.
