After a pitiful slate of fight picks last weekend left us 4-4 on the year, Gancho is itching to return to the good side of .500. The big fight this weekend is the rematch between Ricardo Torres and Kendall Holt. The latter was winning the first fight (in the former's hometown of Barranquilla, Colombia) when Torres knocked him down in the 11th. Before a rowdy crowd that was littering the crowd with all manner of projectiles, the referee stopped it shortly thereafter.
Holt seemed capable of continuing, and given his performance until the knockdown, the stoppage was unfair. However, he was winning, not dominating, and I'm not convinced we're going to see an easy Holt win in Saturday's bout, which will be in Las Vegas. Holt was moving away from Torres the whole fight, and he has shown a dentable chin in previous matchups. I think Holt will win by a boring decision, but a Torres knockout wouldn't shock me.
Check out the first fight (in installments) here, here, here, here, and here.
