Limbaugh and the Times

The New York Times Magazine this week has an entertaining and broadly positive article about Rush Limbaugh by Zev Chafets, the latest in a recent spate of profiles of media figures this election season. Chafets' previous article in the magazine was a similarly readable and sympathetic portrait of Mike Huckabee

One complaint: I wish Chafets had discussed George Packer's article about the decline of conservatism with Limbaugh. He devotes a lot of words to Limbaugh's non-feud with Sean Hannity, but barely skims the surface of a much more important topic. Given that Chafets presents his subject as the intellectual engine of conservatism, and given that the movement is thought by many to be in a process of inexorable decline (or great transition at the very least), I'd have liked to hear Limbaugh's take.
