Gunfights

For the second time in Gancho history, I have the chance to write about an Old West-style duel in Sinaloa. Thankfully, unlike the first time, on this occasion both men survived, despite both suffering bullet wounds to the abdomen.

All this craziness seems like the perfect opportunity to plug God's Middle Finger, Richard Grant's account of his adventures in the Sierra Madre of Sinaloa, Durango, and Chihuahua. I wouldn't recommend it as an introduction to Mexican literature, nor would I suggest that any reader take it as somehow representative of the nation as a whole, but it sure is entertaining. The above news accounts fit right in with the picture of the region that he paints, especially in the Sinaloa portion of the mountain range.
