Justice for the Golden Rooster

The alleged killer of norteño singer Valentin Elizalde has been caught. Jaime González, AKA The Hummer, was surprised by a group of federal police in Reynosa, Tamaulipas. El Universal describes the federales' efforts to get the founding member of the Zetas out of the city before losing him to the inevitable rescue attempt.
For a space of 15 minutes the Reynosa-Matamoros highway, in a section close to the Reynosa International Airport, was turned into a war zone.

Nevertheless, while a military and police "curtain" fought with the hitmen, whom they finally managed to beat back, El Hummer was flying in a Federal Police plane toward Mexico City.
Elizalde was killed in 2006, many say for singing a song that insulted the Gulf Cartel. His death drew obvious comparisons to Tupac's murder, which leads one to an unavoidably negative comparison between the Las Vegas police the Mexican federales: even the notoriously corrupt Mexican forces got their man.
