Nah, cut the man some slack, it has nothing to do with football - strictly an educational comparison. Some might argue that Elway's Stanford pedigree, Aaron Rodgers's Cal credentials, or even the legend Dave Brown forged deep in the stacks of the Duke library might add some spice to the debate, but Notre Dame has a special place in the mental map, being a Catholic institution and all.
