Dropping Remittances

Through the first eleven months of last year, total remittances were down 16 percent, or almost $4 billion, from 2008. In a sign that the economic recovery is not trickling down to primary industries employing immigrants (such as hospitality and construction), the November 2009 figures were down 14 percent from the same month in 2008.
