Mexico in the Herald

Via Boz, Denise Dresser has a thorough (or as thorough as possible over several hundred words, anyway) rundown of all that is ailing Mexico. Here's the intro:
As the saying goes: When the tide goes out, you find out who has been swimming without a bathing suit. Few countries have emerged as naked from the receding waters of the global economic crisis as Mexico.
Great metaphor, and basically correct aside. Although I think it's worth adding that the tide is now coming in, and Mexico's deeper problems will be hidden to a certain degree by the improved economic climate. Hopefully, that won't turn into an excuse for not addressing declining oil returns, a clientist political and economic culture, et cetera.
