Slimming the Cops in DF
Around 70 percent of the police officers in Mexico City are overweight, which sounds like a lot, but then I learned that Toronto's percentage was basically the same. The DF cops consume on average about 4,000 calories a day, which officials are hoping to reduce by about 40 percent through the city's Integrated Program of Attention to Obesity in the Police. Great name, eh.

Not that there aren't some real porkers on the police force, but I'm wondering if they are calculating obesity based on the BMI (Body Mass Index) which may not be completely valid, since it assumes a European body type, not the indigenous body type with a much larger torso.
Yeah that may be. I've always been really skeptical of the BMI. I'm I suppose a bit stockier than average, but I've been overweight my entire life according to the BMI, even when I was in training for a marathon and you could see my ribs. I'd need to slice a limb off to get in under the limit.
