Getting Back to Normal

Mexican students will be filing back into the classroom starting Thursday with high schools and universities, and continuing next Monday with middle schools and elementary school. Digging its way out of the economic hole is turning into the focus of policy makers. Calderón is promising a post-flu stimulus package that will lower taxes and encourage tourism. Ebrard said that beyond fiscal stimuli, an effort to promote his city and the nation's image is paramount. According to an unnamed group of analysts interviewed by El Universal, the economy will continue contracting throughout the first half of this year. One business not suffering because of the epidemic was Blockbuster; homebound Chilangos doubled their movie and video game rentals last week.
