Unoriginality
To one side we have a recent cover of Poder, about the economic costs of Mexico's drug war. The drops of blood against a stark white background make for a striking image; surely this must do better in newsstand sales than a portrait of a corporate suit in his office with a showy smile plastered on his face. However, one complaint: at the time this came out, there were three books that had virtually identical cover concept on sale in stores: Estado de Alerta by Jesús Blancornelas, Crónicas de Sangre by Ricardo Ravelo, and one other whose name escapes my memory. Book and magazine designers of Mexico: it's time to look for other eye-grabbers.
