Tea Leaves

Leo Zuckermann wrote last month that if Calderón places PRI-friendly cabinet ministers in positions of prominence in coming months, that would be a sign that he will be doubling down on cooperation (rather than confrontation) with the PRI. This could be a sign: the incoming PAN deputy caucus will invite Agustín Carstens and Fernando Gómez-Mont, both respected by the PRI, to participate in a legislative planning session at the end of the month. Evidently, programs that alleviate poverty and strengthen the recovery will be the priorities.
