In a duel turned into a referendum on her political stature, Sarah Palin, the Republican vice presidential candidate, yesterday was able to salvage a grade of mediocrity in her first debate and was unable to demonstrate herself to be presidential material or change the dynamic of the support and expectations that presently operate against her running mate, John McCain.

El Universal on the Debate
The results from Mexican undecideds are in, and Palin got waxed! "But that's a constituency that can't vote," you might say, and you'd be right. Nonetheless, the headline --"Biden gives Palin a lesson in debate"-- in the centrist El Universal was strikingly forceful, as was was the article's opening:
