Deputy Godoy

Julio César Godoy, the half-brother of the Michoacán governor, appears more likely to take his seat in the Chamber of Deputies, after a judge in Puebla (why there?) suspended the warrant for his arrest. PRD leader Alejandro Encinas says he has no problem with Godoy taking the seat. A PGR spokesman responded that the ruling has no impact on their warrant, and Godoy will be arrested as soon as he pops up.

Regardless of whether you think he is innocent of all charges, or whether you believe he is guilty as sin, Godoy's serving a term in Congress with a warrant out for his arrest would make a mockery of Mexico's criminal justice system.
