Since last summer, Mexico seems to have made some progress in its capability to break up kidnapping rings and locate kidnapping victims. Often the rescues stem from anonymous tips from neighbors (as it seems was the case here), which is really a positive development. But what a tragedy this was.

Tragic Ending
Last night in Mexico City, an attempted rescue of the kidnapped scion of a prominent family of businessmen ended in the woman's murder. The woman's alleged murderer is said to have killed two of the police officers participating in the raid, before turning his gun on himself. Three other alleged members of the kidnapping gang were taken into custody.
