Selling Out Big Time

As I've mentioned a couple times here, the Green Party has produced a rather snappy campaign based on medical vouchers, greater support for education, and, most prominently, legalization of the death penalty. Of course, the party remains as transparently opportunistic as the senior senator from Pennsylvania, and actor/spokespeople Maite Perroni and Raúl Araiza would seem to have sacrificed any shred of integrity (artistic and otherwise) in shilling for the Green Party. (Here's a taste.) Via Leo Zuckermann, I see that Araiza gave a radio interview showing just how ridiculous his participation with the Green Party was:
The reporter, named Marilú, asked [Araiza] if he truly believed in the Green Party ideas that he was promoting. The actor answered that he liked some, "but not all". Later he confessed that he has always abstained from voting almost his entire life. And then he dropped the bomb: in regard to the proposal for the death penalty, he said it is a delicate issue "that from the get-go won't be accepted because of the corruption in our laws, and that's good because otherwise imagine how many innocent people could lose their life; then I'm not in favor; it's a punishment more than a solution". These are, no more and no less, the words of the great promoter of the death penalty. An actor who, in exchange for money, says anything even if he is against it. A television star that advertises the death penalty as though it was chocolate rolls from Marinela, although he later confesses that the little cakes disgust him.

Araiza also curses the politicians and the situation in the country. Therefore he recommends going to the voting booth and not voting for anyone. Yes, you heard correctly: the promotional star of the Green Party promotes the null vote.
Not surprisingly, the two actors were picked not for their ideological leanings, but based on a casting call and focus-group polling.
